As an instructor, Edy first started teaching Capoeira in 2000 at his hometown. In November 2003, Edy moved to the UK and set up Capoeira York, as part of the Brazilian Guardioes Brasileiros school.

With Capoeira York Guardioes Brasileiros, Edy has now held five Batizados (gradings) where Mestre Jaime Felipe, the master of the Guardioes Brasileiros Group specially comes from Brasil to grade the students from York. In these events, other mestres, professors and instructors from all over the UK and also from other countries, including Spain, France, Poland and Brasil are also invited. Mestre Jaime graduated Edy as a Professor in November 2008.

Within the last five years, Edy set up the University of York Capoeira Club, did numerous workshops in schools around Yorkshire, and alongside his students, has performed in a number of charity events.

Edy's objectives are to expand the Capoeira Group Guardioes Brasileiros in the UK and to disseminate the Brazilian culture.
